The year 2026 is a special one: IBENA celebrates its 200th anniversary. Two centuries shaped by change, crises, and new beginnings — filled with courage, vision, and entrepreneurial spirit. This jubilee tells not only the story of a brand, but also the story of generations who have proven time and again that tradition and innovation are not opposites; they depend on one another.
Living Spaces in Transition
Design has always been a mirror of its time. Today, Scandinavian rounded forms meet a new wave of maximalism. Bright, natural colors create spaces of calm — essential places of retreat in an unsettled world. At the same time, vibrant accents and bold tones deliver small “dopamine boosts”: conscious moments of happiness that bring lightness into everyday life. The past years have shown just how deeply people long, on the one hand, for security, comfort, and peace — and on the other, for joy and optimism.
Between Pandemic and Geopolitical Crises
Since 2020, the world has been in a state of exception. The COVID-19 pandemic fundamentally reshaped daily life: working from home became the norm, video calls replaced personal meetings, and our own four walls turned into both workplace and most important refuge.
Added to this were geopolitical challenges: Brexit, the war in Ukraine, global tensions, and economic uncertainty. All of this intensified the desire for a home that offers more than protection — namely stability, consolation, and joy.
IBENA: Visionary Decisions, Painful Moments
For IBENA, this period became both a turning point and an opportunity. Two years earlier, the company had boldly invested in e-commerce — a visionary decision that now proved to be a key to success. Never before had the design of one’s own home been so central. Life unfolded indoors, and the longing for comfort and coziness grew noticeably.
At that time, IBENA was already exactly where people were searching for blankets and bedding: online.
Yet these were not carefree years of growth. The passing of Josef Albert Beckmann on June 4, 2022 left a void within the IBENA family — a quiet, heavy moment amid the decade’s momentum.
200 Years — And the Story Continues
Ultimately, 2026 is a year of celebration. Two hundred years of textile passion also mean two hundred years of adaptability, resilience, and forward-looking spirit. IBENA looks back on a history shaped by visionaries, and ahead to a future that preserves its heritage while embracing new paths.
Even today, the company continues to show that textiles are more than mere fabrics: they stand for warmth, comfort, and style — then and now, since 1826.
